PR samples: a few of these pieces were sent to me over the last few months
to style. Many of these pieces I bought with my own money
Man oh man, this post has been a lot more work than I thought it would be, but Iām super excited to share it! After living in two VERY warm states (Arizona and Lousiana) for the last year, coming to Utah and experiencing a real fall was kind of a shock to my wardrobe. I had gotten rid of almost all my coats, sweaters and layering pieces during our moves and found that I didnāt own a lot of warm clothing. I was both dreading and looking forward to the task of rebuilding my fall and winter wardrobe; it would be fun to get some new clothes but it would NOT be nice to spend a lot of money!
And then I remembered! thredUP! Iād had a little bit of luck before shopping them and decided to try again. And let me tell you, I was so successful trying that second time, I tried again. And again. And again. Iāve placed at least 5 orders with ThredUp in the last 2 months and have built my fall wardrobe up from the ground AND Iāve spent just over $125.00 doing it. I know that may seem like a lot at first, but considering I have added 13 key pieces to my closet, itās actually been a HUGE amount of savings.
Never heard of thredUp before? No worries. In simple terms, thredUP is an online consignment shop, but it is so much more than that! thredUpās mission is to make your life a little bit easier by offering bargains on quality pieces ever day, and making it easy to clean out your closet all in one! You can send your gently used clothes into thredUP for money that you can use to buy other clothes they have or you can cash out the money to PayPal at the end of the month.
Each piece of clothing Iāve bought from thredUP has come in excellent condition - everything looks like it is brand new and the discounts are SIGNIFICANT (i.e. a $35.00 Old Navy sweater for $7.99) In fact, some of the clothes still have tags on them! The key to shopping thredUP is to constantly check what they have in their inventory. Thousands of items are being added to the site by the hour and hundreds of items are being āreleasedā by shopping carts if they have not been purchased within 24 hours. This means that the specific piece you may be looking for may pop up at any time! If you see something you REMOTELY like, add it to your cart because if you donāt, someone else can and then itās bye bye! You can always remove things from your cart later, Iāve learned itās just better to add them immediately or else youāll be sorry!
Anyway, each outfit Iām sharing below has at least one piece from thredUP and the price I paid for it, so you can see the great bargains that are to be had. I also tried my best to link similar products so that you have options in case you want to recreate a look!
Sidenote - this post is NOT sponsored by thredUP (although I have worked with them before.) I just have had so much luck and so much love for them that I had to share! If you want to try thredUP, you can use this link and get $10.00 towards your first order!
Another note - youāll notice that I use a lot of accessories (like shoes & bags) on repeat. Thatās because Iām a real girl on a real budget and canāt afford to have 20 different bags to accessorize withā¦and thatās OKAY! I figured weāre all in the same space when it comes to that and I hope that by reusing my accessories or certain items of clothing, you can be inspired by the many different fall outfits and styles you can get our of your closet!

I know that Iām replaying the leather jacket and clutch on this look, but I wanted to show how versatile pieces like a leather jacket can be! This outfit has a totally different feel than the one before; itās more of a ālunch date with girlfriendsā type of look. I wanted to add a leopard print piece to my closet and of course, I turned to ThredUp before looking into the stores. I love that this tee is on the longer side - I have a long torso and hate when shirts ride up on me!

Shirt: J. Crew via thredUP ($5.99) | Jacket: Indigo & Sage | Leggings: Simple Addiction exclusive leggings | Combat Boots: Amazon ($23.50) | Hat: Amazon ($11.99) |
I know Iāve shared this outfit before, but this is one of my favorite ones from the season so far. I love the casual layered style thatās been so in recently and after I picked up this layered jacket, I knew I needed to find the right tee to go with it. I didnāt want something that was plain white, I wanted something that had a little bit of dimension, so this tee from j. Crew was perfect! The sequin details gives the whole outfit the right amount of texture and color!
Dress: Trafaluc by Zara via thredUP ($14.99) Similar Here | Leggings: LulaRoe (but save yourself some money and buy the dupes from Simple Addiction) | Jacket: Gifted Similar here for under $50.00
I decided I needed to add some different colors to my fall wardrobe other than olive green and maroon, so when I saw this kelly green dress, I had. to. have. Not only does it pair really well with these navy blue leggings, but itās a great holiday color that will be fun to dress up as we get closer to December! And, it pairs well with my leather jacket when I want to be a bit edgier, or a cozy peacoat when I want to look a little classier! Super versatile (and affordable) so Iām all about that!
Also, sorry for the weird photo; I forgot to get a nice one before I lost the light, so I had to snag one in my office!
Top: Express via thredUP ($5.85) Similar Here | Leggings: Simple Addiction exclusive leggings | Clutch: gifted | Boots: old
Last but not least, we have this cute little ensemble that Iāve worn MULTIPLE times because I love it. I wanted to add a piece to my closet that would work with printed leggings, so it had to be a tunic and it had to be a solid color. This tunic from Express was on clearance on thredUP and I love that it has the satin ribbon detail to make it a bit fancier. The tie around the waist and cut is also really flattering with my chest size and itās been a go-to piece on days when I want to look nice but feel comfortable!
PHEW! We made it to the end. If youāre still with me, youāre a gem! I hope that this guide was helpful or inspiring for those of you who want to get more out of your closet. Remember, you donāt have to buy new things every day to be fashionable (I styled a lot of the same pieces throughout this post) and when you do want something new, check thredUP first to see if you can get a bargain deal! And, donāt forget to use this link to get $10.00 towards your first order!
